MADIKERI: A resident of Kodagu who went to the paddy fields was killed after being struck by lightning in Yelwala near Mysuru on Tuesday. The victim, Hosoklu Roshan Balakrishna, was the son of late Hosoklu Balakrishna of Heravanad village near Madikeri. Roshan was an IT employee who recently quit his job and, along with his colleague, was involved in agricultural activities, including introducing modern agricultural equipment and marketing it.Hosoklu Roshan Balakrishna , his wife and son stopped near Yelwal to visit their property. When he went to pluck mangoes, he was struck by lightning and collapsed on the spot. Another person who was with him was also injured but escaped unhurt. The funeral was held in Heravanad. The deceased is survived by his wife and a son.In another incident, two persons died on the spot after being struck by lightning in Mysuru on Wednesday. Yashodamma, wife of lateBoregowda and a resident of Hoshapura village in Hunsur taluk, was working in a field when she was struck by lightning and died. She is survived by two daughters. The incident occurred in Halepura village, where the family owns half an acre of land.In seprate incident, Appaiah, son of Subba and a resident of Maladahalli village in HD Kote taluk, was struck by lightningaround 1pm and was found dead under a tree. A cow also died in a lightning strike at Antharasanthe in HD Kote around 1.30pm, according to a release.
