NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by fellow passengers after an argument broke out amid a rush to board the Yoga Express at Shahdara railway station in east Delhi on Saturday.The incident took place on Platform No. 3, where passengers were jostling to board the train. According to police, a quarrel broke out during the rush, following which the victim was allegedly assaulted by a group of co-passengers, PTI reported.The victim was identified as Pankaj Dhama, a resident of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that Dhama was assaulted with punches and kicks by co-passengers during the altercation, police said.After receiving information about the scuffle, a police team from the Old Delhi railway station police station rushed to the spot. Dhamawas immediately taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.A medico-legal case has been registered, and police have initiated proceedings under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a senior police officer said.Police said CCTV footage from the railway station is being examined and eyewitnesses are being questioned to identify those involved in the assault.Further investigation is underway.(With agency inputs)
