NBA star Anthony Davis spent about four years turning a hillside Bel Air Crest compound into one of the flashiest mansions in Los Angeles. This week, he finally let it go, closing a $32 million sale that also breaks his one strong tie to LA. His time as a Los Angeles Laker came to a close last year. Anthony Davis, who signed with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2025–2026 season, now plays for the Washington Wizards.

The Washington Wizards’ big man listed the Stratford Circle estate in August 2025 for $39.9 million, not long after his trade away from the Lakers. Nearly a year and one Mavericks detour later, the property finally found a buyer, but at a price roughly 20 per cent below that original ask, according to Mansion Global.Davis, 33, and his wife, Marlen, 29, bought the 3.5-acre property in April 2021 for $31 million. The NBA star bought the home a few months after he re-signed with the Lakers on a five-year, $190 million deal. So technically, the $32 million sale price counts as a gain. Technically!

The mansion sits within LA city limits, which means it has other ideas about what counts as profit. The deal is subject to Measure ULA, the city’s mansion tax of 5.5% on sales above $10.9 million. This means Davis owed close to $1.8 million just for closing inside city limits, The Real Deal reported. Adding in the renovation costs and standard closing fees, the maths on this one likely lands somewhere south of break-even.Jordan Cohen of Re/Max One represented Davis in the sale. Jacob Dadon of Carolwood Estates handled things for the buyer, whose identity has not been made public.

Whoever bought the place is getting no shortage of square footage to fill. The three-storey, European-inspired house sits in the guard-gated Bel Air Crest community. The main house, built in 2010, spans 17,254 square feet with eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. A 35-foot glass dome anchors the entry, and a floating staircase connects the floors. The primary suite alone is an apartment on its own. According to the listing, the upstairs primary suite features dual walk-in closets, sweeping city views, a fireplace, and what the listing called an ‘all-new Four Seasons quality bathroom’. The kitchen recently got a refresh and comes with a new centre island, a breakfast bar, and glass pocket doors that fold the space open to the backyard.

The backyard is to die for! It includes an Olympic-sized pool with cabanas, a tennis court, a batting cage, a children’s playhouse with its own HVAC system, an outdoor kitchen, a vegetable garden, fire pits, a cold plunge, and a sauna. Parking is not an issue either! The motor court can accommodate more than 30 cars.

The mansion also has a tiered movie theatre, a games room with a wet bar, a wine cellar, and a fitness wing that comes with both a massage room and a hair salon! That’s right! You may call it luxe, but for Davis, the real luxury is something else. ‘The greatest luxury in life is family,’ he told Haute Living in 2019. ‘I think no matter what you go through, your family is always going to be there. You can get into it with them, argue, complain, go through a low point in your life, have something great or something bad going on, they’re always going to be there.Anthony Davis and Marlen have been married since 2021, and the couple share three children. ‘That’s why I’m big on family. No matter what I do or what I have, I know my family’s not going to change; they’re always going to be there for me. Even when we fuss and fight, I know I can always count on them,’ he said earlier. Well, good for him!Meanwhile, Davis isn’t the only one cashing out of the city’s top tier right now. According to The Real Deal, his sale came at a time when several high-dollar deals were made, including a $36 million penthouse deal at West Hollywood’s Sierra Towers, a sale that set an all-time price-per-square-foot record for LA County. American real estate developer and art collector Steve Wynn’s 11-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion and a 30,000-square-foot Holmby Hills estate have also gone into contract recently, each carrying asking prices north of $40 million.
