Patrick Mahomes has built a legacy on the football field, but one of his biggest wins came away from it. In Oct. 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs star and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, took a major step to support the communities closest to them through the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. Their $1.625 million partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America opened new doors for children across East Texas and beyond. The announcement reflected something both Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes have often spoken about. They wanted to give young people the same kind of support system that helped shape their own lives growing up.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes turned hometown roots into lasting support for East Texas youth
On Oct 4, 2023, Boys & Girls Clubs of America announced a national partnership with Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes’ 15, and the Mahomies Foundation. The foundation pledged $1.625 million and made a multi-year commitment to invest in young people across Greater Kansas City, Lubbock, Tyler and Whitehouse, Texas. The partnership carried a personal touch. Whitehouse is where Patrick Mahomes attended high school, while Brittany Mahomes spent time at a Boys & Girls Club during her childhood. The foundation also promised to donate $1,500 for every touchdown Patrick Mahomes threw during the 2023 NFL regular season. The investment brought immediate benefits. Boys & Girls Clubs in Greater Kansas City and Lubbock renamed facilities in honor of 15 and the Mahomies, while the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas and The Mentoring Alliance created scholarships for up to 300 children to attend each year at no cost. The foundation also committed to helping upgrade several Club facilities as part of its long-term plan.Speaking during the Boys & Girls Club of America announcement, Patrick Mahomes explained why the project meant so much to him.He said, “Kids who attend a Club, like Brittany once did, are provided with the necessary tools and resources to help this generation not only thrive but lead with compassion and purpose.”Brittany Mahomes echoed that message in the same announcement, saying: “This meaningful partnership will expand opportunities for kids everywhere, and the places that have positively impacted Patrick and me. We are committed to doing all we can to uplift others.”This move also showed that Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes wanted to create a long-term impact instead of a one-time donation. By funding scholarships, improving Club facilities and supporting local communities year after year, they focused on giving children better access to safe spaces, mentors and opportunities that can shape their future. As per Patrick Mahomes, the partnership was about more than writing a check. It was a chance to invest in the communities that shaped his journey long before he became the face of the Kansas City Chiefs. For hundreds of children in East Texas, that commitment continues to create opportunities that extend well beyond football.
