BENGALURU: The skeletal remains of a 57-year-old woman were recovered from her residence in Bengaluru, police said on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Dakshayini, a native of Saundatti taluk in Belagavi district, officials said.According to news agency PTI, the incident was reported on August 7 from her residence in Havanur Layout, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bagalgunte police station.According to police, Dakshayini’s brother, Mahesh Basappa, said in his statement that she had developed mental health issues after the death of her son in 2005.She was subsequently treated at hospitals in Bengaluru and Shivamogga, where doctors diagnosed her with schizophrenia. She also spent about four months at a rehabilitation centre for treatment.Police said Dakshayini had been living alone at her house for several years following the death of her husband in 2017. She had also not been in contact with her family for around two years.On August 7, police informed Mahesh that a body had been found at his sister’s residence. He went to the house and identified the deceased, police said.He stated that he has no suspicion whatsoever regarding the death and does not suspect anyone, police said, adding that an unnatural death report under Section 194 of the BNSS has been registered and further proceedings have been initiated.(With agency inputs)
