NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old woman has alleged that she was sexually harassed inside a moving car in East Delhi’s Mandawali area.According to the woman’s complaint, the accused, who was known to the victim, first invited her out for momos and later said he needed to stop for a CNG refill. Instead of heading to the fuel station, he allegedly diverted the vehicle to a deserted stretch, where he began making obscene remarks and demanded sexual favours.The complainant alleged that the man touched her inappropriately and prevented her from getting out of the vehicle despite her repeated attempts to leave.During the alleged incident, she managed to record a video on her mobile phone, which has been submitted as part of the evidence.Based on her complaint, the Mandawali Police registered an FIR on June 17 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to sexual harassment, wrongful restraint and other applicable offences.Police said the accused has already been identified and apprehended in connection with the case.Authorities are examining the video recording and other evidence collected during the investigation to establish the sequence of events and corroborate the complainant’s allegations.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
