He recalled asking his wife to contact the company immediately. “I told my wife, call the company and tell them exactly what’s happening so they can do what they got to do,” he said.

During the interview, Jamie Dimon said that there were moments in his life when he came close to walking away from Wall Street altogether. Dimon also spoke about another turning point in his career — being fired as president of Citigroup in 1998. He said he was called into a meeting with Sandy Weill and John Reed and was asked to resign because of organisational changes. The decision came as a surprise and left him confused.After returning home, he told his family the news. He recalled that his youngest daughter asked whether they would now have to “sleep on the streets.”Despite the setback, Dimon said he never allowed the job loss to define him. “It affected my net worth, not my self-worth,” he said.He also remembered that about 50 senior Citibank managers came to his apartment to say goodbye, a gesture that stayed with him.
