MANDYA: A woman police sub-inspector has accused Tumkur Rural MLA Suresh Gowda’s daughter Aishwarya of abusing, slapping and obstructing her while she was on crowd-control duty at Aarathi Ukkada Temple in Srirangapatna on Aug 12.SI Savitha told TOI: “She [Aishwarya] wanted to enter the sanctum immediately after arriving at the temple. When I requested her to wait for two minutes, she refused to listen and instead abused and slapped me.”While Savitha lodged a police complaint against Aishwarya, the latter also filed a counter-complaint, claiming it was Savitha who abused her. Mandya SP V J Shobharani said both complaints were being investigated.Sharing details of the incident, Savitha further said she was deployed outside the sanctum sanctorum from 2pm to 10pm on the occasion of Bhimana Amavasya. Around 4.30pm, Maddur SI Shekhar escorted a man and two women, including Aishwarya, for darshan. After prayers, Aishwarya allegedly insisted on entering the sanctum. Savitha told her to wait a few minutes, saying allowing her in immediately could anger the large number of devotees patiently waiting in the queue.Aishwarya allegedly questioned Savitha’s authority, reminding her that she was an MLA’s daughter and abused her.Later, when inspector Lakshmi entered the sanctum, Aishwarya objected to that, questioning why the cop was allowed inside while she was made to wait outside. She then allegedly slapped Savitha and threatened to ruin her career, following which other police personnel intervened to defuse the situation.
