Google founder Sergey Brin owns a 466-foot (142-metre) megayacht named Dragonfly. This luxury cruiser has recently drawn attention not just for its size but for its unusual layout. Instead of dedicating most of its space to leisure, the vessel reportedly includes an entire business deck with a large private office, alongside a gym, games room and a concealed helicopter hangar, earning it the description of a floating workplace.Dragonfly, which was built by German shipyard Lurssen and delivered in 2024, was recently spotted anchored off Eze, France, Superyacht Times reported. Unlike many luxury yachts, this one is designed to keep Brin connected while travelling. According to Lurssen, the yacht’s dedicated business deck combines workspaces with supporting facilities, while the helicopter hangar is built into the superstructure to preserve the vessel’s exterior profile. Other onboard facilities include a glass-bottom swimming pool, a beach club and a hybrid propulsion system.
A business deck at sea
Dragonfly was designed by Germán Frers, with interiors and exterior social spaces created by Nauta Yachts. At 9,408 gross tonnes, it is the seventh-largest yacht built by Lürssen and is larger than the 141.96-metre Scheherazade.The defining feature of the yacht is its dedicated office deck. While Lürssen has not disclosed the office’s dimensions, industry estimates suggest it spans approximately 70 to 110 square metres (750 to 1,180 square feet). Together with the gym, games room, helicopter facilities, circulation areas and technical spaces, the business deck is estimated to occupy more than 1,000 square metres.The concealed helicopter hangar enables passengers to arrive and depart directly by helicopter without relying on nearby ports or tenders.
Hybrid propulsion and onboard facilities
The Lürssen diesel-electric powertrain powers Dragonfly and includes two diesel engines driving controllable-pitch propellers, a PTI/PTO, and an electric azimuth pod drive. It is intended to enhance the ship’s efficiency and facilitate long-distance cruising. The electric drive will also reduce the machinery’s noise and vibration compared to normal operation.
Reflecting Brin’s return to AI
Dragonfly’s work-focused design aligns with Brin’s increased involvement in Google’s artificial intelligence efforts. Although he stepped away from Google’s day-to-day management in 2019, he returned to an active role following the rapid development of generative AI after the launch of ChatGPT.Since then, Brin has collaborated with Google engineers on AI research and has openly asked his employees to be in the office more often. In his widely publicised memo in 2025, Brin said that 60 hours a week was the “sweet spot of productivity,” and that the race for AGI requires more dedication.According to Forbes, Brin has an estimated net worth of $266 billion, placing him among the world’s wealthiest individuals. Dragonfly’s combination of office facilities, transport infrastructure and onboard amenities reflects a design that integrates workspaces with long-range private travel rather than serving solely as a leisure yacht.
