Travelling with a child is an adventure in itself. From their food, clothing, routine and health, you have to be cautious of everything in order to ensure that they are safe all the time. However, a parent can only be so much prepared for adversaries and sometimes you end up stuck with a problem that leaves you out of your depth. In such a situation, any and every help is appreciated and needed.In a post going viral on X, a man shared how his train journey showed him just how much the country is progressing. He wrote that while travelling from Bhusawal, Maharashtra to Goa by train, his friend’s two-year-old son suddenly developed a fever. They had no medicine with them and the destination was still seven hours away. “We thought we’d get off at the next station, consult a doctor, and then continue the journey by road..!” he wrote.He casually asked a vendor selling stuff on the train saying: “We need some medicine. Can you arrange it at the next station? I’ll give you Rs 500 for your effort.”“There’s no need for that. Meet the TTE (ticket examiner); your problem will be solved,” replied the vendor.“We immediately met the TTE..! In my entire life, I had never experienced such promptness from a government employee..! He stopped his work, made an immediate phone call, noted our seat number and the child’s condition, and told us to return to our seats..!” shared the man.“To be honest, we didn’t have high hopes. We had already decided that if needed, we’d get off at the next station and take the child to a doctor..!” he added.

Quick treatment for the child

The group was expecting that maybe the TTE would bring some pills wrapped in paper. However, at the next station, a doctor arrived at their seat with his assistant and the TTE. After examining the child, the doctor instructed his assistant to give the parent a few bottles of syrup and explained how to administer it.Then, he asked the TTE to get some salt from the pantry. “The TTE made another phone call right away. The doctor advised us to place a cloth soaked in saltwater on the child’s forehead and then left..!”When the group enquired about the money they owed for the treatment, they were told it was all “completely free.” “We were still stunned and amazed that by the time we got back to our seats, a pantry staff member had already arrived with the salt..!”“My country is truly changing for the better! What do we do with all this criticism! Should we swallow it with petrol! Change is happening. We should also share these experiences with our relatives and friends..! It will take time, but we are seeing and feeling the change that’s taking place..! Nation first..,” he concluded.

While one user wrote about a health problem, another wrote about not being able to connect with family who were travelling by train and receiving help from officials.“Exactly, about 3 years ago, I was traveling from Mumbai to Nanded. The station master, huffing and puffing, came running to Pune station searching for me, carrying a full strip of 30 Crocin tablets,” shared a user.“Yes, absolutely right, this railway service is commendable. If there’s any trouble during the journey, immediately call 139 and share detailed information with Rail Madad, assistance is provided,” added another.“A few years ago, my father was also traveling by train. He felt a little discomfort. Sitting at home, I shared his PNR number and complete travel details on Twitter itself with @RailMinIndia and @RailwaySeva. At the next station, the doctor sir and his assistant arrived, checked on my father, and provided him with medicine,” a user wrote.“I had a similar experience when I was unable to connect with my wife and child while they were travelling alone. I contacted the helpline and they shared the TT number. The TT promptly went to my wife’s seat, and I was able to speak with her. I really appreciated the quick assistance,” one shared.
